New Methods for the “Wired” Generation

Not all addictions are the same.  Not all clients are the same.  Education in the general population is having to face the fact that young people have changed and how they learn has changed.  The internet and video games have changed how kids look at the world.  If they observe the world in fast paced multi-connected ways, we will have to add that to the education process if we hope to keep their attention long enough to teach them anything.  In addiction we face the same issue.  Younger people who have grown up wired to the internet need more visual and faster paced information.

Drug and alcohol rehabs need to adapt their treatment programs to allow for these changes.  The same things that worked with the pre-internet generation will not appeal and hold the interest of those who have grown up “wired”.
