Most addictions seem to have one theme running through them. Lying and manipulation. It is such a common and difficult element in addiction, maybe we should consider just having a rehab for lying. I know that might sound a little crazy at first, but at it’s core, isn’t that when the real addiction begins? When you start lying about and hiding your behavior?
Being open and truthful goes hand in hand with sobriety. Truthfulness leads to healing and is essential if counseling is to make any real progress. It never hurts to be crazy for a day and look at a problem differently. Is lying a root cause or is it a result of addiction? Interesting to think about…isn’t it?
